Auf dem Rückweg vom Kolosseum kamen wir am Vittoriano vorbei. Dies ist das 1885 erbaute Nationaldenkmal zu Ehren Viktor Emanuels II., des ersten Königs des vereinigten Italiens. Es besteht aus weißem Marmor und wurde von Guiseppe Sacconi entworfen.
Da die immer noch heiße Abendsonne aber erbarmungslos auf uns herabstrahlte, bot sich dabei dieses wundervolle Schauspiel anstatt einer simplen Ablichtung des Bauwerks. Wenn ihr dieses sehen wollt, werdet ihr sicher bei Google fündig ;-)

On the way back from the Colosseum, we passed the Vittoriano. This is the national monument built in 1885 in honour of Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of united Italy. It is made of white marble and was designed by Guiseppe Sacconi.
As the still-hot evening sun was beating down mercilessly on us, this marvellous spectacle presented itself instead of a simple photograph of the building. If you want to see this, you’re sure to find it on Google ;-)
