Canada Goose

The natural range of the Canada goose is situated in Canada and the northern USA.

This bird was introduced to Europe around 300 years ago as an ornamental waterbird in parks.
After the second World War, this species has increased strikingly in numbers in the great outdoors.

Dutch name : Canadese gans
German name : Kanadagans
Latin name : Branta canadensis

Yes the Kanadagans is everywhere in large numbers in the parks and lakes of our city. Since they leave a lot of dirt behind because of their very active digestion it was planned to shoot some,- so that they go away from our local parks. But there was an uproar among the animal friends and so this plan was rejected. They are very pretty birds indeed.
