The Australian white ibis ( Threskiornis molucca ) is a wading bird of the ibis family , Threskiornithidae . It is widespread across much of Australia and it is increasingly taking over the cities. The Australian white ibis is a fairly large species of ibis, about 65-75 cm (26-30 inches) long and has a bald black head and neck and a long black down-curved bill that measures over 16.7 cm (6.6 inches) in the male. the male weighs about 1.7-2.5 kg, the female is slightly lighter1.4-1.9 kg. The body plumage is white, but can get brown spots. Inner secondary feathers are displayed as lacy black "tail" feathers. The upper tail turns yellow when the bird is breeding. The legs and feet are dark and red skin is visible on the underside of the wings.
Der australische weiße Ibis ( Threskiornis molucca ) ist ein Watvogel aus der Familie der Ibis , Threskiornithidae . Er ist in weiten Teilen Australiens verbreitet und er nimmt immer mehr die Städte ein. Der australische weiße Ibis ist eine ziemlich große Ibis-Art, etwa 65–75 cm (26–30 Zoll) lang und hat einen kahlen schwarzen Kopf und Hals und einen langen schwarzen, nach unten gebogenen Schnabel, der beim Männchen über 16,7 cm (6,6 Zoll) misst. das Männchen wiegt etwa 1,7–2,5 kg, das Weibchen ist etwas leichter1,4–1,9 kg. Das Körpergefieder ist weiß, kann aber braune Flecken bekommen. Innere sekundäre Federn werden als spitzenartige schwarze „Schwanz“-Federn angezeigt. Der obere Schwanz wird gelb, wenn der Vogel brütet. Die Beine und Füße sind dunkel und auf der Unterseite der Flügel ist rote Haut sichtbar.
