Trendy Crocus --- Crocus tommasinianus Herb.

Ich schließe mich mal dem Trend an und lade auch ein Krokus- Bild hoch. Krokusse gehören zu den Schwertliliengewächsen und sind mit über 200 Arten, 2 Untergattungen und vielen Sektionen und Serien eine reichlich diverse Gattung innerhalb der monokotylen Pflanzen. Sie überwintern mit einer Zwiebel unterirdisch (Geophyt) und blühen extrem früh, um dem Konkurrenzkampf um Licht und Bienen-Aufmerksamkeit zu entgehen. Diesen Vertretern würde ich den Namen C. tommasinianus auch Elfen-Krokus zuordnen, bin mir aber wie immer nicht 100%ig sicher. Eine wunderschöne Pflanze und ein Vorbote des Frühlings.

I decided to hop on the trend and publish a typical “crocus” picture myself. Crocus is a genus within the Iridaceae (Iris-plants). Encompassing 2 subgenera, over 200 species and multiple sections and series, the genus definitely belongs to the most diverse genera within the Monocots. They use corms for dormancy and bloom very early in the beginning of the year to avoid competition over light and pollinators. I would assign these individuals with the name C. tommasinianus (woodland crocus or in german: elven crocus), yet as always, I’m not 100% sure… Still, a gorgeous plant and a harbinger of spring.
