Nee, so düster ist meine Stimmung gar nicht....
....aber das musste ja auch mal "raus"
mit all seinen fotografischen Unzulänglichkeiten,
aber abends vom tuckernden Vaporetto aus
wird's halt nicht besser.

Mich auch. Mich erinnert das alles
an früher. Man muß das Tuckern ausblenden.
Ich denke nicht unbedingt an den Karneval,
so aber doch an die Zeiten der großen Dogen.
An Vivaldi. An das Leben hier zur damaligen Zeit
und daran, daß früher ganzjährlich eine Maske
getragen werden konnte.

Danke, Sabine, dass Du zu dem Bild die passende Story gefunden hast!
Übrigens, à propos Urheberrecht: Zitieren darfst Du ungehemmt, solange Du die Quelle angibst. Ist aber nicht nötig, denn wer hat den herrlichen Visconti-Film nicht schon mindestens dreimal gesehen? (ich muss zu meiner Schande gestehen, das Buch habe ich nicht gelesen.....)

das bild verkörpert für mich die dunkle, karnevaleske seite von venedig – allerdings nur, wenn ich das prosaische tuckern des vaporettos vor meinem inneren auge ausblende… thomas mann zu zitieren, wäre schön. lasse es aber aus rechtsgründen – ist noch keine 70 jahre tot… daher nur so zum spaß, für die, die lust drauf haben, was passendes von poe ; )) – auch, wenn's nicht direkt um venedig geht:

"THE "Red Death" had long devastated the country. No pestilence had ever been so fatal, or so hideous. Blood was its Avatar and its seal – the redness and the horror of blood. There were sharp pains, and sudden dizziness, and then profuse bleeding at the pores, with dissolution. The scarlet stains upon the body and especially upon the face of the victim, were the pest ban which shut him out from the aid and from the sympathy of his fellow-men. And the whole seizure, progress and termination of the disease, were the incidents of half an hour.

But the Prince Prospero was happy and dauntless and sagacious. When his dominions were half depopulated, he summoned to his presence a thousand hale and light-hearted friends from among the knights and dames of his court, and with these retired to the deep seclusion of one of his castellated abbeys. This was an extensive and magnificent structure, the creation of the prince's own eccentric yet august taste. A strong and lofty wall girdled it in. This wall had gates of iron. @ Heidi - schnell sind die Vaporetti nicht, aber sie vibrieren tierisch, das geht auf Kosten der Schärfe (wie schön, wenn ich mein Gezitter auf eine Maschine abschieben kann :-)
@ Leo - no, it isn't, but it was taken from a boat which was vibrating....
