Across the Cheakamus River
far away three Bald Eagles - and a little seagull .... on New Year's Day
The Cheakamus River in Brackendale - just a few km's from Squamish - is the Winter home of the Bald Eagle. In 1994 4000 eagles were counted, sadly, they have been declining steadily over the years. We saw just a few although about 50 were seen by the voluntary "counters" that day.

This must have been a great sight to see. Very sad that their numbers are reducing so drastically. Do you know what the reasons are for this Adele, is it down to humans as usual.best wishes from Lawson.

the national bird and symbol of the united states – a famous icon and emblem. we've seen it countless times, on flags, patriotic memorabilia, even on the seal of the president! but in "real wild life" they look much more beautiful!! on foot and with their grim regal faces the three specimens here seem to be plotting something. something that might involve the unsuspecting gull, i'm afraid! could it be that they are already secretly dividing it up among each other?!? "chick, chick, chick, birdie, come to papa!! ; )))))) hugs, sabine.
