The Living Forest (27) : Red squirrel
It’s end september, summer has gone and autumn is waiting to expand. Nature will change thoroughly in the weeks to come.
I made a 3 days hike in the ‘Hertogenwald’ (2nd greatest forest of Belgium) and spotted this Red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) while jumping from tree to tree. It’s a shy animal but damned fast, always very active and never sat still for more then half a second. It took me a lot of patience to shoot this little fellow.
Dutch name : Eekhoorn
German name : Eichhörnchen
Latin name : Sciurus vulgaris

Your patience was worth it. Good shot of the squirrel with very well balanced light. I'm sure it wasn't easy to have the squirrel well exposed and still the background isn't burnt out.andrea
