The Fungi world (3) : Common Earthball
It seems there’s a fight going on for some room in the old snapped birchstump.
One Earthball is already bursted to release its spores.
A poisonous species !
Dutch name : Gele aardappelbovist
German name : Dickschaliger Kartoffelbovist
Latin name : Scleroderma citrinum
I read once that fungi can be so boring……. Well, in any case not for me. I like to explore their mysterious world and to me they are as much valuable and admirable as flowers.

Great shot of the fungi. we need these decomposers to break down all the dead plants and animals so that the nutrients are returned to the soil. Very nicely taken. -archieMaria João Arcanjo 6. Oktober 2008, 0:05
