The Living Forest (322) : Beeches
Beeches are large trees native to Europe and capable of reaching heights of up to 50 m.
They have a typical lifespan of 150 to 200 years and sometimes even up to 300 years.
A beech forest is usually pretty dark and only few species of plant are able to survive there, where the sun barely reaches the ground and where the mighty beeches are absolute rulers.
