this looks like a blend of old and new, but the houses are actually quite old and out of wood and have recently been totally and beautifully restored ....

Beautiful picture of what looks a magnificent as exquisite piece of architecture, a sort of ottoman and western blend that pleasantly attracts the sight especially with it's peculiar shape..But, to my opinion, the opposite block of houses would have been restored in a more attractive way...

you are right: the restored wooden houses do look beautiful and surprisingly modern, like carefully designed eco-friendly dwellings! my sober guess would be: they're probably unaffordable to live in… ; ) can only repeat myself here, adele: another interesting and expertly composed shot! the architecture of that… anicent looking building in the foreground with its eccentric roof – sorry, ignorant me doesn't know the correct name for it… – but it adds great depth and a three-dimensional feel to the image! hugs, sabine.
