i like them a lot, those cheeky and smart little house sparrows. i can't resist feeding them a little. hung up "all-year-round greaseballs", that are supposed to not harm their brood, and it's just so much fun to watch them arrive and occupy ; ) me japanese cherry tree: they are such a communicative species, always chirping noisily away, and i get the impression they sometimes even assign a sentinel to one of the main branches to give a warning signal to the gobbling bunch, whenever an enemy (a crow, a cat, me with watering can etc.) arrives in their vicinity… to make a long story short: the "gentle-eyed she" in your shot might be just that: a female sentinel watching over her pecking companions… greetings, sabine. p.s.: she looks gorgeous, not "common" ; )), among the red leaves!
