As on a ship deck
Greece Aegean Sea Spetses island
Spetses is a tiny island with rich past history and characterized by the prosperity of its sea merchants that during the years of war for Independence(1821-1828) contributed a lot with ships and money. These merchants built big beautiful houses the majority of them exactly on sea border enjoying a ship deck view from their terraces. In many cases it was necessary to build walls in front of them as protecting barriers from rough sea..Many of their present descendants stuggle to mentain these houses with continuous repair.
In the photo, one can see a sample of such houses with the protecting barrier in front.

It would be an amazing place to live on summer days when the sea is calm...but what if there is an exceptionally high tide or a really bad storm ?? We have such places round the coast of the UK and they can be devastaed, as over this last year, by excepttional weather and tides.A superb scene looking so tranquil on this sunny dat.
:))

a fabulous location at first sight ... such a terrific view from there, but yes, there is danger there too like earthquakes and tsunamis .... still, they have survived for many, many years and will outlive us, I'm sure .... a great one, Alex !!!greetings, Adele
