Weeping Waterfall Cherry Trees

like in my previous image these are Weeping Higan or Waterfall Cherry trees which originally come from Japan where the oldest tree in Mihary, Fukushima is over 1,000 years old (thank you, Wikipedia).
We just celebrated the yearly Japanese Sakura (Cherry Blossom Festival)- there is a large population of Japanese in Vancouver.

Ich finde Baumreihen,Alleen oder Säulen verdammt schwierig - und ja,meistens steht etwas im Weg oder man hat zuwenig Licht und kein Stativ dabei -mir gefällt der gewählte (spantane) Ausschitt sehr.

Indeed yes, the striking blossoms of this Prunus species seem to imitate a huge waterfall !

a waterfall – yes, that's exactly what they look like! pink blossoms cascading down… amazing that they can get so old!! we have a japanese cherry tree in our front yard, it's been there for years, and it's not in the best spot, so it hardly seems to grow – still tiny! –, and, sadly enough, ; )) it's not the "weeping variant" either. but it does produce some nice blossoms once in a while ; )). not in the least comparable to this overflowing abundance here, though! hugs, sabine. p.s.: i love how one's bigger than the other. "wie die orgelpfeifen" my grandma would have said… ; )))

A beautiful image, the soft pinks and rich greens compliment each other well. Very tranquil too.
