Volcanic....DNA
Aegean Sea Cyclades Santorini
Part of the famous as much as picturesque Perissa coast in Santorini island. The beach bears the evidence of the lava, i.e the black pebbles and the black thin sand, that after the volcanic erruption of 1600 BC, completely covered and destroyed not only the island iself( ? the lost Atlantis) but also the then thriving Minoic civilization in Creta. Since then the beautiful island llives under the threat of a volcanic awakening...
The sea also at Perissa beach is black because of its sudden and great depth..
Despite..all these it is my favorite beach in Santorini!

I am lovong this tour of the Greek islands as seen through your eyes. Here I can almost here the sea as it sweeps onto the shore, and the sky is superb reflecting the turbulence of the sea.:))

one feels the force of nature in this image, Alexander where powerful waves, the rocky beach and those volcanic mountains come together - especially powerful in black and white !!!greetings, Adele

very primeval looking despite the fact that it's a place with an impressive history of natural disaster! the big gray rocks touching the surf make me imagine a fossilized dragon buried just below the surface of the black sand! a mystic dark and atmospherical place indeed! the knowledge of the great depth of the sea even increases the feeling of awe and mystery one experiences looking at this image! greetings, sabine.rocco di ciommo 4.
