To the Gates of Heaven
China
Tibet
Taveling from Lasa to Yamdrok lake at 4.500 m above sea level and along the origin of Brahmapoutra river.
Traveling from Tibet's capital Lasa to Yamdrock lake, one and the most impressive of its sacred lakes at an altitude of more than 4000 mt, is just a trip to another world and to another time dimension...The bus was almost one of those old wood, early Twenties, wagons that would make you think was waiting good horses to make it run...But the course to the summit was a real dream, along the valleys of river Brahmapoutra's origin, imposing mountain peeks in many places shrawded with huge white clouds always runing above your head and being one of the most outstanding things to admire in those altitudes.
In the photo, haystacks, collected by the locals, in one of the valleys on the feet of the mountains.

it must have been a unforgettable experience, that trip of yours "to the gates of heaven!" my first thought, when spotting this image, was that it looked like something right out of a legend or fairy-tale: a congregation of hay people ; ) waiting for their adored deity to step down from the sky and speak to them! ; )) beautiful play with light, focus, dof and rhythm, alexander! the warm, earthen tones – lovely, a treat for the eyes! greetings, sabine.sparkling light 15. At 4500 m above sea level I would not be too sure if I would think about taking photos. Even at 3000m my lungs tend to ask for more oxygen. So, compliments from me for your brave performance.Cheers, Jost
