Some years ago, not many actually, in the remote mountainous villages,locals used to build big ovens out in their yards in order to save as much of useful space as possible in the interior.In these ovens housewives mainly prepared bread but also baked all sort of other food, especially when they had visitors. Now, I was told, they are abandonned thanks to other modern commodities...

yikes, what a huge, impressive and amazingly anthopomorphic thing this is! i see two hollow eyes in the rock and a huge arch of a mouth! in fact, i think it's saying something: "FEED ME!!" as much as i agree with sue thompson on the lovliness of homemade bread, i wouldn't be surprised either, if this particular oven openly expressed its desire for human flesh: "bring 'em on! hansel and gretel, a witch… i don't care, as long as it's filling! FEED ME and do it quick!" grimms' fairy tales… yep, that's where it belongs!! ; )) an eye-opening image, alexander! greetings, sabine. p.s: have a very happy easter!

I dare say that the bread and other food that was baked in such ovens had a wonderful flavour, much better than the modern stuff bought at the supermarkets.
Mmmmm... home baked bread.... the aroma and the taste... exquisite.
