The Fungi World (238) : Saffron Ringless Amanita
The Saffron Ringless Amanita is a fungus with a sweet smelling odour that can be found from mid-summer until autumn, mostly in grassy or mossy forest clearings.
My shot shows the last stage of its life after a fresh rain shower.
It’s a very rare fungus standing high on the Red List of strongly vulnerable and threatened species !
Dutch name : Saffraanamaniet
German name : Safrangelber Scheidenstreifling (auch Orangegelber Streifling genannt)
Latin name : Amanita crocea

And why is it in danger? Intersting some species thrive and some face extinction. Great capture. Bw, Violas. sabine krause 9. September 2014, 15:45
the fungus inn for free climbers, with a roof top pool for ants! ; ) great capture, as always, mark! love the many different shades and textures of green surrounding it, and the light reflection, of course, is an eye-catching detail! greetings, sabine.photodh 9. September 2014, 15:40
