The fields around Mt. Nagaurhoe.
The mountain on the right is better known around the world as Mount Doom. The heather fields are wonderful on the west side of the mountain, although the heather is an out of control invasive species. The heather was introduced as a habitat for pheasants also brought from England for hunting. The hunters have always proven to be too good and the Pheasants have never established themselves in New Zealand.
