Back home again from holiday after exploring nature during some weeks.

This landscape shot shows the swampy peat moors of ‘Hohes Venn’, the greatest (4500 ha) and oldest National Park of Belgium and the most unique nature biotop in the land.

Due to the local micro climate, ‘Hohes Venn’ is the only(!) place in the world where subalpine vegetation can be found at a height scarcely between 600m and 700m above sealevel. This means that plants grow and flowers bloom there, that normally only grow just below tree line in mountains like the Alps and Pyrenees.

The whole area is vast and desolate. It consists mainly of swamps which can only be traversed by using the wooden paths made by the local foresters (a daring exploit). It is nearly impossible to leave those wooden paths, as the swamp starts immediately to suck your feet and legs in the depth.
This makes swamp hiking a unique experience.

Wonderful sky background. This is a lovely landscape. The wooded pallets for the pathway, how far does it go in length. Superb presentation.

Ich freue mich jetzt schon auf die Fotos, die du uns bestimmt in der nächsten Zeit präsentieren wirst.
Aber korrigierte mich, wenn ich falsch liege: liegt das "Hohe Venn" nicht auch ein Stückchen in Deutschland, in der Eifel??? Das ist doch ein Hochmoor - oder verwechsel ich da etwas???
Aber egal, auf jeden Fall ist das bestimmt der Auftakt zu einer tollen Fotoserie. Ich schaue mit Sicherheit in der nächsten Zeit öfter bei dir rein.

Toller Ausblick präsentiert bereits dieses Foto :o))
