Vita brevis, ars longa, occasio praeceps, experimentum periculosum, iudicium difficile.

A turd, crap, doodoo - whatever this might be and what the artist wanted to express, I find the nuances and combination of colours very pleasing and beautiful to look at ... and your image has great depth and balance!!!
    greetings, Adele

: ))))))) the actual meaning… is not always what the artist wants it to be ; ))). when i look at photographs of exhibits/art, i try to forget about the artist's work that's behind it, as i'm convinced the photograph creates its very own world, just like literature does, perfectly independet of its creators – painter/sculptor/author/photographer… weirdly enough, i think my own sorry little sketch of an analysis is not so far off mr. west's intentions after all, as i'm part of a global society that relentlessly exploits the planet it lives on, shamelessly both producing and celebrating all kinds of trash, working slowly, ignorantly, cheerfully towards its own annihilation – oh, wow, i think that's bleak enough now ; )))). greetings, sabine.

@Leonid: Why hard feelings? :-) A joke is a joke! And it actually made me laugh! I never take things too seriously and I dare to make fun of everything. A mind without irony, sarcasm and lightness is in my opinion a sad cage where thoughts can't break free, The picture depicts what in fact IS a massive doodie!!! (@Sabine: I simply love the sweet and cute way you described and interpreted this installation. Sometimes the beauty IS in the eye of the beholder and so is the tenderness and innocence of the child who should never abandon us when looking into beauty and art. Your interpretation is way more appealing than the actual meaning of these sculptures).
The installation consists of 7 pieces. According to Mr. West we should not asses the progress of a society based on the amount of waste they produce (as the better the technology the lesser the waste). The real indicator is the amount of biological waste (AKA shit). Proof thereof: the biggest societies have had the biggest sewage system since the ancient Rome. Contemporary art is a state of mind, a feeling and a challenge...sometimes just a provocation. So is this picture too. I don't want to express any opinion. Next time I'll walk through this gallery I know that my very own thought will be: it looks like crap, smells like crap, feels like crap...it must be...??? :-D

in the thumb it looked like jewelry – gems! – to me, but now that i clicked it all reminds me of a giant version of an artist's tools: dried paint, a "worm" of wet orange paint pushed out a crinkled tube… the "richness" and luminousness of the colors is amazing! greetings, sabine. p.s.: in fact, super(size!)productive hits the nail right on the head ; ))!
