yes, i agree with leonid! my first thought, when spotting the thumb, was: "oh, notre dame!!" ; )) must be because of the dramatic, almost "operatic" effect achieved by the editing. theatrical and eye-catching indeed, berthold! and besides, it brings out the intricate design of the cologne cathedral spires, too! greetings, sabine. p.s.: i can perfectly sympathize with your notion of trying to escape the cliché for something refreshingly different!
