Bergbaumuseum Oelsnitz

The area around my hometown Lugau has been impacted by the mining industry for about 100 years, from the late 19th century to the 70ies of the 20th century. Few old mines with their winding shaft and the towers above remain. Mainly coal, but also ores and Uranium were mined.

Mining for ore has a long tradition in that area of western Saxony and goes back into the 15th century.
