Once a Corner Grocery Store (8)

now still a grocery store (in Chinatown)
before supermarkets Vancouver had many, many little corner grocery stores in every neighbourhood (the entrance door being on the corner) .... some still remain, but many have been converted to other stores, cafes, art galleries and living quarters - I love them as they take away from the impersonality of the big stores...

These people almost have the right idea. ATM , hell turn it into a Canadian Los Vegas, with and ATM you can bet on. I'm sure it has Lotto inside.

In einer meiner AM erwähnte ich, daß die Eckgeschäfte größtenteils von Matratzenläden belegt sind so auch bis heute der in unserer Stadt. Dieser Umstand scheint sich zu ändern. Auch unser Eck-Matratzengeschäft schließt Anfang Mai.
Es war sehr interessant, die Eckgeschäfte in Deine Einzugsbereich kennen zu lernen. Sie scheinen ebenso ihre besten Zeiten hinter sich zu haben und im Konkurrenzkampf mit den großen Märkten das Nachsehen zu haben.

the mood of this image is quite fascinating! and so different from the "wildly romantic" feel of your former shot! the cool light, the bulky cuboid shape of the building, the grain of its surface – it all adds a very down-to-earth and practical feel to the image! i hope patronage is good, so that wayne's little neighborhood store will survive and stand its ground against supermarket competition! hugs, sabine.

Ich erinnere mich bei diesem Anblick an die kleinen Lebensmittelgeschäfte meiner Kindheit und zwar vor allem an ihren speziellen Geruch. Damals gab es noch Sardellen und Stockfisch in Fässern und offene Gläser mit Salzgurken.
