The Great Sphinx and the Pyramid of Cheops
the only image I have of a frontal view of the Sphinx and taken through the window of the bus, and not so good with the top of the pyramid cut off and the composition ...... but there were constructions going on, and we could only see her from the side :-((((
The Great Sphinx of Giza (Abū al-Haul, English: The Terrifying One; literally: Father of Dread), commonly referred to as the Sphinx, is a limestone statue of a reclining or couchant sphinx (a mythical creature with a lion's body and a human head) that stands on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt. The face of the Sphinx is generally believed to represent the face of the Pharaoh Khafra.
It is the largest monolith statue in the world, standing 73.5 metres (241 ft) long, 19.3 metres (63 ft) wide, and 20.22 m (66.34 ft) high.[1] It is the oldest known monumental sculpture, and is commonly believed to have been built by ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom during the reign of the Pharaoh Khafra (c. 2558–2532 BC).

That's a good panoramic view that...doesn't do justice to the poor Sphinx much reducing her size which is also imposing of course! Excellent texture on the pyramid.best regards alexander

Was sind das nur für riesige Dimensionen, die die Kamera hier auf Zelluloid oder die Speicherkarte bannen muss. Wie viele Generationen mögen an diesen Bauwerken unter widrigsten Umständen geschuftet haben.VG Ernst

Good shot through the window of the sphinx and pyramid. Super detailed for such a photo. Amazing tht they have lasted this long, over 4000 years. Must have been an amazing civilization at that time. Nicely done.Regards,
Archie
