I was in Rome last year and I was very close to this place (if the Forum Romanum is on the other side of the street, then I walked past).
Anyway I have never seen a black and white photo of ancient ruins, but the idea is great, I love it!
I come from Rome were I was born and where I lived for more then 30 years... I love deeply Rome and so I can say that your shot has a great ancient atmosphere and is a wonderful b/w too. As usual for you.

The light of the picture is great (did the hour of the helped you?) , for there are shadowed and lightened areas fully detailed. If a viewer wanted to get informations about the place he ought to see your photo first.
Note: The verical axes are... verical indeed, nicely done!
