Lest We Forget - Nov. 11th 2010
Remembering the dead soldiers of our wars ..... taken last year at the Remembrance Day ceremonies at the War Memorial in downtown Vancouver .
...............................................................................................................................
The first chapter of In Flanders Fields and Other Poems (a 1919 collection of poems by John McCrae) gives the text of the poem as follows:
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

We celebrate a remembrance for the vitims of both world wars on Nov.1st but apparently not as big as you do.Very interesting scene, the other pictures of your remembrance series are also great, they are so touching and remind us of the senseless killing in any war.
Very well done!
sincerely yours
