Not much has to be said to this picture. I tried, trembling, to form the sculpture, tried to represent this man. According to Isaiah 53, he was so ugly that people didn't even want to see him. He was ugly because he was bruised for o u r sins, dying for them in our place, - so that we may live, even eternally. There was no other way than this for a holy God to receive man back into his fellowship.
