Flower images to make the gallery really have to have a tight control of sharpness and blurred DOF. In this image the DOF is controlled nicely and the blurred background allows the main focal point to be on the flower as it should. The issue is that the flower is not very sharp.

I went to your homepage and looked at the EXIF data on this shot and what I have learned the hard way from some of my mistakes is that even though your lens has f2.8 capabilities and will give you that nice smooth blurred background it can be hard to control the sharpness of the main subject. It seems like the top pedal here has some sharpness to it but the flower center and surrounding pedals are blurry, changing your f stop from f2.8 to f4 will allow the flower to be sharper throughtout and still give you a good blur in the background.

Now it also depends on your intent, which I could not get from your EXIF data, if you only wanted part of the flower to be sharp and the rest blurry like the background then you should have focused on the center of the flower and had that sharp and all the surrounding pedals blurry.

You have the concept down very well you just need to refine it a little.
