These are defense towers from the medieval times mostly build in the 14th century and in different building styles known in the whole Caucasus. here in Svaneti they belong to one family in other regions they built a bigger one for a whole village. The entrance was in the 4th. floor only to reach with a ladder which was burned after the people were in. Then the towers were nearly not to destroy as the first 3 floors were filled with stones which gave the tower a consistency of a rock
