The Guard

well - maybe ....
zooming in on some of the Snow Geese visiting us each Winter in the area of the Fraser River ... taken on our walk in Steveston on Good Friday ....
The snow goose (Anser caerulescens) is a species of goose native to North America. Both white and dark morphs exist, the latter often known as blue goose. Snow geese breed north of the timberline in Greenland, Canada, Alaska, and the northeastern tip of Siberia, and spend winters in warm parts of North America from southwestern British Columbia through parts of the United States to Mexico. Snow goose populations increased dramatically in the 20th century.

We are (resting) family... with one exception of a walking goose in the front! A nice scene with interesting words! I've never seen your native geese in Europe... so thanks a lot for showing, dear Adele!
    Warm greetings, Sabine

Someone has to have an overview.
We have a flock of Canadian wild geese at our local lake. There is always a dominant leader who tries to keep the group together and protect them if necessary. Approaching, especially when there are young geese, is not without danger. Problem often in summer: we share the areas on the beach.

Not much participation in the FC at the moment, as other things have come to the fore after a bereavement in the family. I will try to get more involved again soon.
    Best regards
    Matthias
