THE GOLDEN BOY IN TRAFALGAR SQUARE
The statue +is Powerless Structuresby the artists Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset. It can be seen in all its shining glory on top of the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square. The 'golden boy', as the work has become known, wearing shorts and a smile astride his rocking horse is a mischeivious visual reference to the staue of King George IV on horse back next to him but is also meant to be a symbol of hope for the younger generation, an attempt to show 'that there's more to life than being winners or losers' according to Elmgreen.
