After the Austrian government decided to invest in the invention of the Minenschiff (mine ship), the production of the first self-propelled torpedo began in Fiume, today Rijeka in Croatia. By 1881 the factory was exporting torpedoes to ten other countries bringing death to thousands of seamen all over the world. In the ruins of this factory by the lovely sea this picture was taken.
