Nahe Valley - Luitpoldbrücke Hawk's Eye View
In a few months, those winter vineyards will be alive with vivid shades of green, but for now in this
February moment, they serve to set off the vivid red of the Deutsche Bahn DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit)
passenger train, running along the Nahe River Valley.
While the passing hawk possessed a "hawk's eye view" of the train, the photographer, stationed atop
the Lemberg, at 1,381 feet, was fortunate enough to enjoy a hawk's eye view of the hawk and the rest
of this inviting scene on this crystal clear winter afternoon.
The stone arch bridge crossing the Nahe at Oberhausen is the historic Luitpoldbrücke.
Built in 1889, it was named for Bavarian Prince Regent Luitpold.
Herzlichen Dank to my photographer friend Tom Reitzel, who was my driver
and guide on this 2008 visit. The photo makes its first F-C appearance today.
