Monastery Admont II

And another story for you guys:
This image was made in the room in the middle. The figure represents "death" - one of the four ___ (I forgot the name, but it was wisdom, death and 2 other figures). Originally those figures were not supposed to be for the library but for the church. There was a "universe" (I believe it was called) in the middle. But some time ago they decided to move it into the monastery museum. The monastery burned down in the 1700s and in this fire the central figure of this room. Today those four figures decorate the middle room.

Also, this middle room links the two other rooms with each other: Room number one is about profane sciences, the middle room is about philosophy and suchlike and the third room (in the back in the first picture) is about theology.

Another fact: The library is situated in the east wing and so the sun illuminates the room directly in the morning and in the evening. Doing that makes artificial lighting unnecessary! The architect had really a thought on this!

Edit: I asked the librarian about the figures (I forgot what they show). He told me that they show "The Last Four Things - Glory, Hell, Death of Sinner and Last Judgement". In the German Wikipedia you can see that the figures in this monastery are called "the best" - and actually they are really great and very detailed!
