I for one like the harsh lighting, which really isn't all that harsh. More strong and higher in contrast than the rest of the image, but that's what gives it it's edge. The emphasis is on the face, and the eyes. The lighting on the right eye, although it wouldn't be considered "good lighting" practice because of the way the shadow crosses the eye, again adds an edginess. Composition is great. You have a great nack of capturing your subject's thoughts and emotions through their eyes. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

The light does seem a little harsh in areas. If you really like this image, you may be able to reduce the light harshness with some grain.
