Dutch Facades from the 17th Century

Netherlands, Amsterdam, Herengracht, May 2013

In the middle of the picture you see the so-called Cromhout Houses. These four gabled houses were built in 1662 by Philips Vingboons,
and they have been given the nicknames "father and mother" (numbers 364 and 366) and "the twins" (numbers 368 and 370).
The overall decorative style is Baroque. Number 366 now houses the Bijbels Museum (Bible museum).
Philips Vingboons is well named as the inventor of the Amsterdam "Halsgevel" type of facade (literally "Neck Front Facade").
