Bird View of Munich on Munich's 848th Birthday Celebrition

Today Munich celebrates its 848th birthday. "The origin of Munich goes back to the 8th century and to a tiny monastic settlement known as "bei den Munichen", which is to say: by the monks. However, the actual founder of Munich is Duke Henry the Lion. He destroyed a toll bridge the Bishop of Freising had erected over the Isar near Föhring and then built another one in "Munichen" where he collected his own tolls. Duke Henry thus redirected the profitable salt road into Munich. Following the Bishop's protest, Emperor Frederick Barbarossa called a Reichs-Council held at Augsburg on June 14th, 1158. There, Duke Henry's act was publicly recognized, thus giving Munich its official "date of birth": June 14th, 1158."

This is my first year in Munich and my first time seeing Munich in a whole. Also it was my first time seeing the Mayer of Munich, a man with humerous and knowlege, he's not really that like a mayer. The Celebrition was wonderful, full of traditional programs and happinesses. I came to Munich since last august, during the past one year, I've experienced the hardness of earning for a living and the happiness of life in a Munich's sunny day. After one year, I'd say I love this city very much. It's a place of adventure and tradition.
