Barry #2

The high contrast effect is achieved by applying Photoshop's high pass filter to two or three copies of the original image. Each copy is processed with different filter settings, and merged with different blending modes. Sometimes I do a final tweak with levels and saturation layers too.

Obviously the effect isn't very flattering and isn't the right thing for all subjects. When it works, I think it works well and creates very striking images. When I first got the effect I was looking for, and looked at it full screen, I though "Wow, this is great!". The image seemed to jump out of the screen at me.

So, do you think "Wow!", or just " So what, another image spoilt by Photoshop."? Please comment. I'm not looking for compliments so, if you hate it, then say so.

Very interesting picture, it's so good!
Even the background is very fitting. I've really lost myself in the details of this face!

Well John, I don't think neither "wow" nor "another image spoilt by Photoshop". The thought that came to my mind was : "Wonder what Barry thinks about this portrait."
    Has he seen it?

    My honest thoughts about it.

I really enjoy your portraits John.

This is quite unusual because of the processing.
