The Living Forest (40) : Purple Deadnettle
In the forest wild flowers, plants, herbs and ferns have started growing again.
Here’s another so called weed, but take a look at those magnificent tiny bright purple flowers (less then 1 cm.) I wouldn’t call that weed……. !
Though superficially similar to a Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioica) in appearance, it is not related and does not sting, hence the name "deadnettle".
Dutch name : Paarse dovenetel
German name : Purpurrote Taubnessel
Latin name : Lamium purpureum
