End of a giant

The last Press I am stripping out to move from a plant we have to close, a sad day indeed :-( It will end up in a third world country where it will make parts cheaper than the western health and safety mad world and end up with more factories like this closing their doors forever. this press weighs in at 70 tonne

it somehow reminds me (though it was a many years ago) of the sad scrapping of Brunel's famous "GREAT EASTER" which ended up somewhere on a beach like a dying whale....

    fascinating, Bryan.

there will come successors in this very town, I am sure!

your picture of this giant is great, it shows every detail of the huge machine. the composition in black and white makes it look like decades old!

    kind regards,
    A.C.

Even gigants come to an end, but it´s
not the end, it´s a new beginning.
A fine b&w picture of a great machine.

Hi Bryan *** this is the same problem here. With all the regulations and levies and union demands we are just not competitive any more, jobs going where people working for a dollar a day and our workforce going on unemployment benefits. The Photo is a strong document and by the way a very good one.

It is well worth documenting this lest oblivion takes over.

You make me regret my old black-and-white days in the darkroom. Another craft that is disappearing...

What a sad story indeed Bryan. Health and safety does over take everything sometimes including common sense. This is an impressive bit of kit though. 70 tonne, that is incredible, great in b/w too.
    Hugs

At last, it has something to do again. Hope also the people who became jobless :-(( , find a job again.
Very nice and detailed capture of this giant machine.
The B & W mood demonstrates it's experience better to us.
    Best regards from Persia,

The problem is you can hardly buy anything made at home, nearly everything comes from china or so, cameras and lenses aswell!!.
    Great b/w photo.
