My grandfather taught me a lot about photography (the art and the handcraft) since I was 8 or 9.
I do sometimes wish I remembered more of his advice, he was a true professional
I restarted to take photos about ten years ago, doing mostly 6x6 b/w and slides with a Kiev, an old russian copy of the Pentaconsix.
Nowadays I'm using a Canon EOS 50e,an EOS 350d and a Canon EF S 18-55; EF 28-105 and a Canon 70-300 IS.
I wish I had more time to use this equipment: Since I mostly document my travels, my photos tend to be more documentary snapshots instead of real compositions.
but i try to get better....
