Swamp of ice and snow (3)
Due to the local sub-alpine micro climate, there was, 3 weeks long, day and night continuous frost and a snow carpet of 45 cm. on 'Hohes Venn', the greatest and oldest National Park of Belgium and the most unique nature biotope in the land (altitude: 694 meters above sea level)
Under the great mass of snow lies a whole area of vast and desolate swamps.
My shot was made 11 days ago on the last cold frosty day over there. The melting of the snow started the next day (and is still going on, snow depth today : still 10 cm.)
Location : Mont Rigi (Hohes Venn, Belgium)

what a fascinating mood, light- and color-wise! the snowy hohes venn looks surprisingly monochrome!! in fact, it's almost as though a colored sky was attached to a b/w image! ; ) love the composition with the walkway curving its way into the shot! and the sky… wow! if i were punxsutawney phil,* i'd need no more proof and would dare to predict an early spring, despite all the picturesque shadows in the snow down below!! ; )) greetings, sabine.---------------------------------------------------------------------
