It should be snowing, it should be freezing, it should be bloody cold, but look what I found : the very first catkins of the year !
The shot shows male catkins on Common Hazel.
This deciduous tree is usually the earliest to wake up…….at the end of winter.

won't be an easy year for people suffering from allergies! but they are just so beautiful, aren' they? and you captured them exeptionally well here, with the little raindrop suspended in mid fall and all those precious details in the textures of the long, almost garland-shaped catkins! greetings, sabine. p.s.: love the "subdued" light and the background!
Ja dieses Jahr hatten wir tatsächlich noch keinen richtigen Winter. Nur in den Alpen sieht das wohl anders aus.

Das Bild ist wunderbar : ich zeigte immer zu meinen Schülern diese ersten Zeichen des Frühlings aber eigentlich , im Winter, gibt es eine grosse Aktivität : die Knospen bilden sich !
