Galls or cecidia are outgrowths on the surface of lifeforms Plant galls are abnormal outgrowths of plant tissues and can be caused by various parasites, from fungi and bacteria, to insects and mites.
Plant galls are often highly organized structures and because of this the cause of the gall can often be determined without the actual agent being identified.
This applies particularly to some insect and mite plant galls.

wow, they're huge! and they remind me off tiny tangerines, kumquats, or… bubble gum jawbreakers – but i bet their mushy inside won't be a culinary delight at all ; ))! great discovery and capture, fons! the placing them on the hand brings out their enormous size! greetings, sabine.
I've often seen galls, especially on Oak and Poplar tree leaves, but never as magnificent as these. They almost look like fruit and they're huge!
