During this week we enjoyed the sunny days and visited - like always - Alkmaar, the famous cheese city north of Amsterdam. The town center's character is quite similar to that of Amsterdam, but much smaller.

: )) just look at the bird! he's obviously trying to steal the show from the the right-angled structure of the corbie step – kudos to him, he's a game one, that bird! ; )
i do remember alkmaar from a trip as a child: such beautiful houses, and such a friendly and relaxed ambience! wasn't too crazy about the cheese market, though, as my cheese-hating child nose felt offended by the (probably imagined!) smell! ; ) greetings, sabine.
