Dominican people feel that they live in relative racial harmony.
They are instantly black, Latino and immigrants
But if there is important truth in the image of Dominican racial democracy, it also obscures significant racial discrimination. First, there are the more subtle prejudices that permeate the culture: the upper-class parents who prefer that their daughter straighten her otherwise curly, classically African hair; the omnipresence of light-skinned individuals on TV and in advertisements.
Race plays a key role in the construction of Dominican society and politics, as the official ideology defines the nation's characteristics as 'white', European and Catholic.

Nick, ich scanne leider noch Negative, hab' den vergrößerer Zuhause stehen aber trau mich noch nicht ran. Das ist jedoch das nächste Ziel...
