The original castle was built in the Middle Ages around 1240 as a strong fortress. It was given its present outlook during a restoration in 1887-1889.
The authentic testament of the world famous painter Peter Paul Rubens is kept in the castle.
No colour editing, the pebbles on the access path are really coloured this way.
Magnificent sight, Mark. Beautifully restored castle.
But one thing is absent from the pic. The prince on a white horse waiting for me at the entrance :-)
