Atop his monument in Baltimore's Mount Vernon Place, George Washington seems to be gesturing
to the photographer not to forget his good friend the Marquis de Lafayette, whose equestrian statue
rises below in the south quadrant of Mount Vernon Place..

Appearing to the right are the spires of the Mount Vernon Place
United Methodist Church, on the northeast corner of the plaza.
