Manhattan Bridge

Not quite the “open” experience of walking across the spacious promenade of the neighboring Brooklyn Bridge…

But if one likes the proximity of rushing subway trains - on four tracks, no less (*) – as well as views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan, from a high perspective, a walk across the Manhattan Bridge might be just the ticket.

There is also that imposing “industrial” feel to the Manhattan Bridge, when compared to the more classic architecture of the older Brooklyn Bridge…perhaps even a tinge of the “sinister,” as dusk envelopes the massive girder work, which I tried to convey in this impression.

This image is available in archival pigment gallery prints and as a custom printed note card.

Magical architecture built in a long forgotten time. I understand well that time travel phantasies entwine around this bridge. And your perfect orchestrated photography supports these ideas in the best way. Only an idea: Colourkey (b/w with the yellow bars) sure would look great, too.

yes, i feel it too, that great big suction, that downdraft, that's pulling me into depth of the picture, taking mann und maus – the whole kit and kaboodle including a perplexed perspective – with it. the moskstraumen is nothing compared to it… ; )) in fact, this extreme, atmospherical point of view makes the image for me! love the brooding sky! it matches the steely and dark aura of the bridge beautifully – favorite little detail: the runner dressed in sync with both sky and bridge! sign of hope: the golden gleam! greetings, sabine.

Marvelous. Love the perspective. The beautiful light with the dark blue sky highlights the construction of the Manhattan Bridge. Compliments!
