We did not have to go far .... and there was our first iceberg .... a blue that looked unreal - but not all look like that.
Tabular icebergs have steep sides and a flat top.
Non-tabular icebergs have different shapes, and include:
Dome: An iceberg with a rounded top.
Pinnacle: An iceberg with one or more spires.
Wedge: An iceberg with a steep edge on one side and a slope on the other
Dry-Dock: An iceberg that has eroded to form a slot or channel.
Blocky: An iceberg with steep, vertical sides and a flat top. It differs from tabular icebergs in that its shape is more like a block than a flat sheet. (Wikipedia)
Wishing you all a great Sunday ... and thank you for your visits and comments!!
Eine interessante Einführung in die Klassifizierung von Eisbergen, aber lieber schaue ich mir einfach dieses spannende Bild an. Unwirklich finde ich die Szenerie auch irgendwie!
Liebe Grüße, Ernst
another breathtakingly beautiful scenery and shot! you are right: the blue does look unreal! and i just love that almost sunny-looking orangy-pink of the snowcapped mountains on the horizon – a picture with a tru "at-the-world's-end feel" to it! hugs, sabine.
Very impressive, and very cool - in contrast to the Tango pics :-)
I didn't know the different shapes of icebergs seem to be a real science....
Manfred
I had no idea icebergs had different shapes and names, you learn something new everyday! This one really is blue and it looks like the texture of rock down the sides. I love the dark foreboding sky to match the water. If you passed very close by, you could chip some off to put in a gin and tonic!
Regards
Sally
Das hast du wieder prächtig hinbekommen. Herrlich
dieses Coelinblau gegen die kalte Greyscala von Meer
und Landschaft. Faszinierend, was da alles bei dir so
vorbei zu schwimmen pflegt.
Dieser Anblick übersteigt meine Begriffe .... ich nenne dich glücklich, weil du sowas Aussergewöhnliches gesehen hast! Fantastisch schönes Foto!
LG Inge
